Nearly every premium driver sold today includes an adjustable hosel that lets you change loft and face angle by a few degrees, but many golfers who own one have never actually adjusted it, or don't fully understand what each setting changes.

What Loft Adjustment Actually Does

Adjusting the hosel to increase loft raises launch angle and typically increases spin slightly; decreasing loft lowers launch angle and typically decreases spin slightly. What Face Angle Adjustment Does

Most adjustable hosels also allow a small amount of face angle adjustment — typically toward a slightly open, neutral, or slightly closed setting. This changes where the face points at address with the club soled normally, which can help golfers who fight a consistent slice or hook by pre-adjusting the face slightly in the opposite direction, effectively building a small correction directly into the equipment.

Drivers ship from the factory at a standard, middle setting that is not tailored to any individual golfer — it's a generic starting point.
