PGA Championship 2025 Preview and Predictions

Photo by Benny Hassum on Unsplash The PGA Championship is the second major of the calendar year, typically played in May. Organized by the PGA of America (distinct from the PGA Tour), it carries full major championship weight and a rich history that includes some of the sport's most dramatic finishes. Here's a complete guide to what the PGA Championship rewards, who historically performs best, and what to expect in upcoming editions. The PGA Championship's Unique Identity Among the four major championships, the PGA Championship is sometimes unfairly dismissed as the "fourth" major — the one that follows the Masters, US Open, and Open Championship in prestige. This is an undeserved reputation. The PGA Championship has produced some of the sport's greatest moments and is played at world-class venues on a rotating basis. What makes it distinct is its field composition: unlike the other majors, the PGA Championship traditionally includes the top 20 players from t...

The 2026 US Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club expects over 150,000 attendees across the full seven-day championship week. Tickets are available through the USGA's official website at usopen.com, with multiple options ranging from standard grounds access to premium hospitality experiences.

Gallery Tickets: Standard Grounds Access

Gallery tickets provide access to the grounds of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club for a chosen day or the full week. Daily and weekly gallery ticket packages are available at usopen.com. Gallery tickets let you walk the course freely, position yourself near any hole you choose, and follow your favourite players as they make their way through the Shinnecock layout. The grounds at Shinnecock are among the most walkable in major championship golf — the open, links-style terrain means spectators can see multiple holes from elevated positions.

Trophy Club: Premium Hospitality

The Trophy Club featuring Corona Premier is a climate-controlled facility located along the fourth fairway. Trophy Club tickets include premium food and beverage options, live television coverage, executive restrooms, and all the grounds access that a standard gallery ticket provides. Daily and weekly Trophy Club packages are available. This is the premium hospitality option for spectators who want a more comfortable base on the course.

Practice Round Tickets

Practice rounds on Monday through Wednesday (June 15-17) are typically less expensive than championship rounds and offer a more relaxed viewing experience. Players are accessible, the grounds are less crowded, and you can walk the course and observe the world's best players preparing for the championship. Practice rounds are a genuine and worthwhile US Open experience.

Getting There

Shinnecock Hills is located in Southampton on the eastern end of Long Island. The USGA will operate a satellite parking and transportation plan with remote lots in proximity to the course. A temporary LIRR train station will be constructed near the course to facilitate mass transit — the Long Island Rail Road is the recommended transportation option for spectators coming from New York City. A ride-share drop-off location will also be designated near the grounds. Given the limited road access on the eastern end of Long Island during a major championship week, mass transit is strongly recommended over driving.

Tickets at usopen.com

All ticket purchases go through the official USGA ticketing portal at usopen.com. The USGA does not authorize any third-party resale platforms as official partners. If purchasing through secondary market sources, verify the tickets carefully — and be aware that counterfeit tickets are a known issue at major golf championships.
